CMF Chemotherapy is an
adjuvant therapy for breast cancer using Cyclophosphamide (IV), Methotrexate and Fluorouracil (5FU).
CMF chemotherapy may reduce the chance of your breast cancer coming back. A blood test is required before each CMF chemotherapy
treatment. If you visit your dentist or doctor you should tell them about your CMF treatment .
Expected Side Effects:
Nausea and vomiting - in the first
12-24 hours after your CMF chemotherapy treatment and usually wears off by day 3-7.Hair Loss - hair will thin.
Fatigue -usually begins in the first
week after your CMF chemotherpay treatment.Possible Side Effects:
Pain or Tenderness - may
occur where the needle was placed when you have your CMF chemotherapy treatment and it
may extend up the arm.
Sunburn
Burning feeling when passing urine
Watery Eyes
Low blood count
Menopause Symptoms - hot flashes and infertilty
Metallic Taste
Weight Gain
Joint Pain - after your CMF chemotherapy treatment you may experience pain in your joints of the hands, knees
and feet.
